Since I last visited this topic, they have released a letter to the players, which you can read here. It doesn’t mention the Legendary Servers except to say that in Update 47, the Angmar and Mordor servers received “major updates.”

I have not found any new posts on the forums of note on this topic. However, Discord had an interesting post by Shorty:

Things we have had confirmed by SSG regarding legendary worlds:

1) They won’t close at level 115 as some folks may have thought but “some time next year”. No further details given but as 115 is in September, I think it is safe to say we will at least see 120, 130 and 140, possibly all the way.

2) There will be more Legendary worlds. What that will look like and what features they may have has not been revealed, but there will be more servers. These will be released after the current ones have closed. (Likely using the same hardware resources as the current ones).

3) There are no plans (at all) to merge Angmar and Mordor. They will continue to run independently.

4) The Veil of the Nine mechanic is seen as a “game mechanic” not as a story that must end. Wraiths and Nazgûl’s can spawn throughout the journey to whatever they decide the final level of the Legendary Worlds will be.

Sources: Various, from official streams, discord posts from SSG personnel and from the Forums.

I can’t personally confirm any of this, but in my experience, Shorty is a pretty astute assessor of what is happening in LOTRO.

Also, egarthur shared where the info came from that Angmar and Mordor are in the same boat. It came from a stream. It’s difficult to keep track of all the info coming from streams, as well as dev comments in the Forums and on Discord. Alas.

So, no new dev updates that directly address what will happen with the Angmar and Mordor servers. I’ll try to update once a month regarding this topic.
